UbiSoft Announces Assassin’s Creed Announcement on May 12

Assassin's Creed VIUbiSoft’s annual sneaky, stabby, parkour infused Assassin’s Creed will be formally unveiled on Tuesday, May 12. For those of you counting, that’s in five days. Along with their pre-announcement, UbiSoft teased an image/short video clip of a wrist blade/pistol clutching a cane with a brass knuckles armed fist.

The game was said to have leaked about six months ago and was rumored to be set in Victorian London with the title of Assassin’s Creed: Victory. While early test footage of the game looked pretty solid, UbiSoft refused to confirm or deny whether any of the details were true. Early leaked footage seemed show the additional armament of a grappling hook that sped up the vertical traversal.

Kotaku reported along with the announcement (for an announcement) that the game no longer carries the Victory name and will instead be called Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. The Syndicate moniker evokes a more sinister, divisive organization that maybe even exists outside of the classic Assassins versus Templars dynamic. Maybe Assassin’s Creed: Victory still exists and Syndicate will be an offshoot, similar to how Assassin’s Creed: Rogue was handled last year. The Assassin’s Creed series, while reliable, could probably use a shake up in the formula. Rogue provided a glimpse of this, they just need to expand it out further.

After all is said and done, Victory could just be a play on words as this will likely be the sixth core Assassin’s Creed game (6 = VI = VIctory).

Another catch was found by Destructoid after a little sleuthing that called the video ACVI_Jacobs_Hands which could be the possible name of the protagonist.

All’s fair as we prepare for the lead up, which is part of the fun. Besides, nothing is true, everything is permitted.
