Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is still totally a thing

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls

Remember last year when Diablo III launched and it was entirely disappointing? Well Blizzard has been hoping to redeem itself from the weird experiment with real money auction houses, sparse environments and terrible loot systems with the first Diablo III expansion, Reaper of Souls. Set to launch sometime next year the hope is that by finally axing the real money auction house and adjusting the loot system accordingly, the overall reception of Diablo III will improve.

The real money auction house has been largely a disaster as very few items worthwhile were even remotely affordable. Furthering the problem was that the rarest items in game were made even more exclusive by extremely low drop rates which would inflate the value of the real money auction house. It was a terrible two headed monster that continually fed itself. And this isn’t even mentioning items that dropped with unusable class-based bonuses.

Because Blizzcon is this weekend in Anaheim, CA, there’s certain to be a good amount of information on the new expansion pack. Fortunately for everybody scouring the net in advance, an early trailer has been leaked for Reaper of Souls, highlighting new game modes, a new artisan and new item customization. Hopefully the fixes, the new story elements, the new character will be enough to get me to jump back in. I haven’t touched the game since I defeated Diablo with a very stun heavy demon hunter and it was a boring experience that I fell asleep on several times.

  1. From the sounds of it, you played the PC version. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the console versions, so I might jump on D3 if the price is right.

Just hope I don’t get hopelessly addicted like my friends back in middle school with D2.
