In a cute announcement featuring Legend of Zelda director Eiji Aonuma, Nintendo finally confirmed that the limited edition Gold/Black Triforce themed 3DS XL will be available in North America, beginning November 22. The limited edition handheld will be packaged with a download code for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and will retail for $219.99. The system was previously announced for European and Japanese markets and had been leaked earlier in a GameStop Black Friday ad.
As I stated last week, Nintendo needs to keep up with the limited edition handhelds because it not only spurs sales, but keeps their already dominant 3DS handheld at the front of consumers’ minds. I will finally be making my long overdue purchase of a 3DS with this system unless Nintendo pulls a fast one and drops a truckload of those gorgeous orange/black systems at my front door.
